Can't you keep both? I see no reason in limiting your collection! Collect for Samantha more if you want, but don't get rid of Felicity!
As some of you may know, I have really been wanting a pre-Mattel Felicity for a long time, and had chosen her to be one of the only four dolls I want in my collection-you may recall that I am limiting my collection down to four dolls. I meant to have her included with Kaya, Josefina and Molly. But now im thinking more...Kaya, Josefina, Molly and... Samantha. Why the sudden change? Last Friday, I was at American Girl Place Chicago, when I released that I really didn't like Felicity's clothes all that much...but that I LOVED Samanthas! I find her clothes just beautiful. But Felicitys, while I think are pretty, are just okay. So... now I think I may get an 80's German Samantha istead of a Felicity. But the thing is is that I LOVE Felicity! Although I think her wardrobe is just okay, I love her charector, and love the doll itself, and am fascinated by the time period! In fact, the 1700's are my favorite period of fashion. But really, Felicity's clothes don't reflect what people wore back then in the best way...Oh, I just don't know what to do! Anyone care to make a descision for me...? [img]frown.gif[/img]

I think you should stick with Felicity. You can buy some of the beautiful and historically accurate creations sewn just for Felicity by some of our own HB members or Dollies Dressmaker. I think Molly and Samantha look a lot alike. All of your dolls would be brunettes, and I think it would be nice to have a redhead - something different. I also love the Colonial period.

I have both a PM Felicity and a Samantha from the 80's. I love my Samantha more than any other doll I own and her collection really is beautiful.
A PM Felicity is GORGEOUS though. My cousin has a newer one and, in my opinion, there is no comparison.
If the collection is your issue, then I would get Felicity and, as it was previously suggested, purchase other non-AG things for her.

Both? Im musn't. I practically have 4 dolls that im keeping already-the fourth being Kirsten, who I "gave" to my mom, although she spends all of her time in my room, under my keeping. My mom refuses to let me get rid of Kirsten...Im pretty sure I will end up getting Felicity, but what I really like about Samantha is that she reminds me of the late 80's, a time period im very fond of becuase I was a little kid back then, which was the most happy time of my life. And she was the doll I liked the most back then. PLUS she has the best clothes. But Felicity is really special to me too. I just love her charector, her time period, and the doll-especially the early pre-Mattel ones...
NO NO dont get rid of Lissie. Get Samantha and Nelli. I have both and I just love them and I love my Lissie. I dont see any reason to limit your collecting. I'm getting 2 more dolls Elizabeth and Kit. I said I was going to 4 too, but I figured I have plenty of room for more dolls and more love.

I got her off ebay last month, and was very dissapointed with her-mainly because she didn't have the bright red hair of the earliest Felicity dolls, and her hair has a rather coarse texture. Not silky like new dolls have. The seller said she was from 1993, but I can tell by the hair color that she's from 1995-1998. Im selling her along with Addy, Kit and...Samantha, and then with the money hopefully will get a German Felicity. The reason im limiting my doll collection is becuase I really can't make a connection with those three dolls, as well as with Kirsten, who I kind of gave to my mom. They just sit on my shelves, totally undistubed. So, I want to limit my collection down to the dolls that I really like. And if I have less dolls, I have a much better chance of completing all thier collections-I won't have as many dolls to collect for. And with the money I get from selling the dolls and thier clothes, I will be able to get more dresses and things for the dolls I already have, as well as a good Felicity (well, hopefully atleast), making me a step closer to completeting thier collections.Originally posted by Samantha_Nellie_ Felicitys_Mommy:

Hmmm, I would stay with Felicity since you alread have her and there are so many reasons for wanting her that you already stated. Samantha maybe really pretty but youve wanted Felicity for a long time. I would just collect for her now and if down the road you still want Samantha then maybe you can save up for her. You maybe wanting her so bad since you just saw her. On the other hand, if you still keep havign second thoughts on Lissie and want Samantha over the next couple of weeks, I would get Samantha but at least keep Lisse just in case, even if you arent collecting for her.
